Our projects range from small Victorian homes to early 20th century commercial buildings and public meeting spaces, each project having the goal of blending historic beauty with practical amenities. As the Featured Projects on this web site show, we often begin with neglected structures with either equally neglected interiors, or interiors that have been “renovated” to the detriment of both attractiveness and practicality.

We begin each project with a vision of transformation, often aided by historic photographs and documents, as well as by descriptions provided by eyewitnesses of the original buildings. As projects progress we often discover clues that assist in accurate restoration, such as previously concealed architectural details or “shadows” of details, and sometimes written information by original craftsmen found on the back of wood trim or in the walls.

Whenever possible, we strive to follow the guidelines and requirements necessary for placement on the National Register of Historic Places, while at the same time complying with local, state and national code requirements.
